Robbie has enjoyed being home this week. He has been relaxing and playing on his computer. His bloodwork finally came back okay for his kidneys. He has been following the doctors orders and drinking a lot each day. Next Thursday he will have tests and scans and then go into the hospital for the next round.
I told Robbie to take a selfie for the blog tonight. Ha
We are hoping he can come home tomorrow. His kidney counts were better today. They are still waiting on the magic number. Jim is with him tonight. I’m on for tomorrow night.
We are so thankful for friends and family. We are all having a hard time handling the latest news. Tomorrow we will be at MD Anderson all day for tests, chemo, and to see Dr Ratan. We are waiting on approval from insurance for the new chemo. Then Robbie will have chemo everyday for a week for round one.
I took off the rest of this week. My new school has been so kind and very supportive. Ruth should be here tomorrow night and Lynn will come when she is able.
Robbie a couple months ago at the Tulsa Zoo.
Robbie had a relaxing day at home today. He said he was tired today after being awake a lot last night.
I’ve been busy working on my classroom everyday. My students start on Wednesday and I have many things to get done before they arrive.
We had to drive to a town north of us to the DMV today, which is near Bucky’s. Robbie got his favorite pulled pork sandwich. I was able to finally get my Texas license. Third time and all the papers! Robbie was upset because his Oklahoma license has expired since he hasn’t been driving, so he has to take a 6 hr online driving course and take the driving test again. He could have gotten a Texas ID card today, but he didn’t like that idea.
We also both got library cards. You can never have enough books!
I passed the first Texas teacher test that I took last week and I might be able to waive the other tests. Loud cheers! It is too late to get a refund for my test this week, so I’ll still test, but will hopefully skip the other two tests. Yay!
Just like last round, Robbie has a fever, rash, chills, tired, and miserable.
I interviewed in Katy, TX today and they called later and offered me a job. I will be teaching special education in the fall. We went out to eat to celebrate. Robbie wanted to come along, but we should have encouraged him to stay home and rest. I hate seeing him so sick again.
Robbie is enjoying a relaxing day. It is a little windy today, buy sunny. He is doing well, he just gets tired very quickly.
There was already a long line of cars when we arrived at 7AM. Robbie got a few more hours of fluids. He is very tired and also fighting a cold this week. He slept part of the morning, which helped to pass the time for him. I’m back studying for the Texas state teacher tests. I signed up today to take three tests in May. I was hoping to test this month, but they were already booked.
Robbie and I walked across the street from our apartment to Centennial Gardens. We didn’t stay long, since he forgot part of his camera and he was tired from the walk.
His blood counts are coming back nicely and his cold is getting better.
I got my temporary teaching certificate today, which gives me a year to take all the tests.
The first two study guides came today, so I can get ready to take 4 teacher certification tests in Texas. It has been just a few years since college, so I have a lot of needless studying ahead of me. I’m already certified to teach in Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, and Oklahoma. You would think they could give me a certificate without further testing!
Robbie has been relaxing all day and continues to cough. I’ll be glad when he is over this cold. When he gets a cough, I always start worrying about his lungs. Thankfully his fever is gone today.
