Dallas World Aquarium 11/24/18

Robbie and the sloth

Having fun taking pictures

Jim and Robbie

Robbie by the Sloth Christmas Tree

We took Robbie to see the sloths at the Dallas World Aquarium today. The sloth is from the Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica. Robbie loved visiting the sloth. We were first in line, so he got to the sloth ahead of the crowd. I am so glad we took the time to take him. He loved the sloth Christmas tree in the gift shop, but was too tired to shop this time. He rested on our drive to Houston and continues to rest now that we are home.

I am very thankful we were able to take him on this trip. He is worried about his tests tomorrow, doctor appointments on Monday, and his next chemo treatment this week.

Keep praying ❤

Dallas 11/23/18

We left Oklahoma late afternoon. Robbie loved seeing his sisters. We stopped in Dallas overnight so we can take Robbie to the Dallas Aquarium tomorrow morning. He found a pink sloth at Cracker Barrel. He only got to hold it for the picture. I didn’t cave in to buy it this time. 🙂

We take Robbie back to MD Anderson on Sunday for tests and Monday for results. Jim will also. have test results on Monday.

Aquarium 5/12/18

Robbie went to the aquarium in Houston with a friend today and they saw a huge sloth in the gift store. He took pictures, since it was too expensive to buy. He had a great week. He is up to biking two laps around the neighborhood, which is 4 miles.

Monday is the next round of treatment.

Hearing Test and Houston Aquarium 3/29/18

We started the day at MD Anderson. I’ve been concerned about Robbie’s ears and we don’t live near our ear doctor anymore. We met a very smart young ENT and he told us several things about Robbie’s ears and took amazing pictures of his ear drums. Robbie also had a hearing test. His hearing loss is more significant than it was a year ago and also there is damage to his bones & ear drum on one side. We will need to find some one that services Resound hearing aids, so they can be adjusted.

The damage is caused by the chemo drug, Cisplatin, that he took for several months when he first had treatment in 2015-2016. This drug is also believed to be the drug that damaged his bone marrow and caused the non stop loud ringing in his ears. It did a good job against the cancer too, but unfortunately it is too toxic to his system to ever use again.

Next I took the kids to the Aquarium for lunch and a tour of the aquarium. Robbie loved taking pictures and Ruth had a good time too. We all fell asleep when we got home. It has been a hectic couple weeks!
