Long Teaching Week 10/8/22

Sloths make the best students 😊

I enjoy teaching and working with children. This is my 35th year of teaching and I have been in the education field for almost 40 years. This week has been very discouraging. Working in special education can be very difficult. I wish I could wave a magic wand and heal all my students but I can’t. All the emails and phone calls can’t change that fact. Getting angry won’t change that fact. All the accommodations in the world can’t fix this either.

After loosing a child I am especially sensitive when someone complains about their living child. I want to tell them how lucky they are to have their child. I am not the right person to share minor things being treated like they are life and death. I am exhausted from this week both physically and emotionally.

Totally agree! The only type of student I could handle for 3-5 minutes, much less 35 years, would be a fluffy, cuddly green sloth with a Pete the Cat book. Or maybe a blue sloth with If You Give a Mouse a Cookie book! Molly really likes that book, too!
