Record lows and power outages in Texas. We lost power and water on Monday at 2AM. We went without power for 40 hrs and currently it comes and goes. During the 40 hrs, we used blankets, hats, coats, and mittens to stay warm, but we were still very very cold. I have never been so cold! Tried calling several hotels, but they were either booked or also without power.
We used candles for light. I know they say not to use gas burners for heat, but we are well ventilated and didn’t leave the burners on at night. We were desperate when the power went off for so long and outdoor temps were in the teens. Next week we are going to be back in the 70’s. Crazy weather!!
Currently we have had power all day, which has been such a relief. Crossing my fingers that it stays on all night. It hasn’t since last Saturday. It is very stressful not knowing when your water will stop or power will go off. We lost most of our food in our refrigerator.
I am thankful this never happened while Robbie was sick. I don’t know what we would have done. He was cold on normal days.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I didn’t realize how bad it’s been for you all. Warm hugs 🤗.

Thanks Kathy! I have never been so cold. Today the sun is out and a high in the 30’s, which feels like a heatwave! Very thankful for heat and water today.
