MD Anderson Updates: Terminal Cancer 1/7/19

Waiting for his appointment

The current chemo drug is slowing the cancer down, but also causes multiple side effects. It is all the Dr has left to try, so as long as it helps and doesn’t make him too sick, he will continue.

Robbie continues to have cancer in his lungs, along with a new tiny tumor on his heart and liver. It all looks about the same as two weeks ago when he was in the ER, so his Dr thinks the new drug is helping.

Dr Ratan told him today that his cancer is terminal. He has mentioned this possibly to Jim and I, but this is the first time Robbie has heard this. It is devastating news. We are so sad. It is so frightening for him and all of us.

Robbie has beat the odds so many times. Keep praying for all of us. ❤

As always, your entire family is in our prayers. That is not the news that we had been hoping to hear, That is not the direction that I might have chosen were I God. But I am certainly not God…I am not divine…I am not all knowing…I am not the very essence of love…only God is! That leads me back to the Scripture that I have claimed over and over in life when life events seemed unfair. . .”Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge HIM and He will direct thy path.” May all of your family know the assurance of that promise. Do you know the song, “Trust His Heart”? If not, let me know and I will find it and send it to you. It is a very good text. Your family have become some of my “life heroes”. We will continue to keep all of you in our prayers.

Each day you all are a part of my thoughts and prayers. I’m sad that conversation had to happen. It must have been difficult for all of you. We are rooting for you Robbie, all the way up here in Massachusetts! I work in a hospital as a Nurse Case Manager and have shared Robbies pictures and his story with my colleagues. Robbie was in my thoughts as well today as I wore my new sloth dress! Love the video, thank you for sharing. Your smiles make us smile so far away! ❤
