Written by Robbie’s sister, Ruth Holland.
This is Robbie holding a baby sloth at the sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica. They were so inspired by his story and how he wanted to visit them that they surprised him with a ton of plush sloths to bring home to other cancer patients. Oh…and a baby sloth to hold! (Contrary to popular belief, sloths usually aren’t huge fans of being held, so this was very, very special gift).
I’ve been taking time to try and think up the best words to say thank you for this dream trip for Robbie and they still escape me. I think the best is what my husband, Nick, said. “In the 12 years I’ve known Robbie, I’ve never seen him happier.”
Everywhere we went, people realized Robbie liked sloths and would find him whenever one in the wild was visible nearby. It is safe to say everyday of the almost 2 weeks we were there, he saw wild sloths. 🙂 Thanks to your generosity we were able to give him a trip of a lifetime. Everything from whitewater tubing (hilarious! try it sometime!) to ziplining through treetops. Coffee and chocolate plantation tours to hours of giggling beachside.
I hope your life is as full of joy and happiness as you helped us bring Robbie.
Thank you again for your support and prayers. Pura vida!
*Note: We are closing down the You Caring site. Thank you from the entire family. You have given Robbie and all of us a priceless gift. Cindy
